Ink Master contestant Daniel Silva has been charged with murder for the car crash that claimed the life of friend Corey La Barrie earlier this month.
The former reality show member faces one count of murder, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday, a charge for which he could face between 15 years and a life sentence in state prison.
La Barrie died in a car crash on his 25th birthday on 10 May, and Silva is alleged to have been behind the wheel.
The luxury sports car was traveling “at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control,” the LAPD said of the day in question.
“A 26-year-old man has been charged with killing the passenger in his McLaren sports car after crashing into a tree in Valley Village earlier this month,” statement from the LA County District said in announcing the charges against Silva.
Silva “was driving the car under the influence of alcohol, crashed and killed the passenger. So he’s been charged with murder and is in police custody,” said Officer Mike Lopez, media relations officer for the LAPD,
Silva had tried to flee the scene of the accident but was apprehended by “citizens who came to render aid.”
