Disgraced singer R. Kelly is once again in the news, this time complaining about his treatment from prison saying he doesn’t have enough options for food.

Daily Mast understands the 53-year-old Kelly visited a prison doctor on the 1st of May, 2020 and was also separately advised by a nurse to lower his cholesterol by eating smaller portions and cutting out carbs like chips and sweets and to workout more.

According to another report by The Blast website, the doctor was quite firm in advising the singer “to do regular room exercises, use loose weights, and take a bunch of vitamins. The doctor had to tell him again to avoid sweets and fatty foods.”

Prosecutors are keen to keep the singer locked up and have stressed in court filings that he continues to see a doctor numerous times at the at MCC Chicago.

“The defendant has been seen by Clinical Director Brij Mohan, M.D., almost monthly (specifically, on January 21, 2020; February 10, 2020; March 31, 2020; and May 1, 2020), and by nurse practitioners on five occasions (January 17, 2020; March 19, 2020; March 26, 2020; April 7, 2020; and April 29, 2020). The defendant has also been seen multiple times by registered nurses this year as well.”

R Kelly claims he’s ‘high risk’ for the coronavirus as he asks to be released from Chicago jail

They also argued he “is currently not on any chronic care meds” and does not suffer from any “chronic disease issues.” They say Kelly “complained that he can’t exercise in the small room and “he can’t have the diet he needs or wants” with prison food.

Kelly’s first request to be released from the Chicago MCC because of COVID-19 was rejected as there were no recorded cases of the virus at the time. His second attempt citing changed circumstances after fellow inmates died was also rejected by a judge.

R Kelly’s legal team is having a third go at getting him released from prison over concerns that he could contract COVID-19 there. In the latest motion, it is argued that Kelly is “likely diabetic”, which would place him in a high risk group if he is exposed to the disease.

Kelly’s sexual abuse trial in New York has been postponed to Sept. 27 as a judge ruled that the previously scheduled July 7 date was not realistic in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

He is facing trial in three states on sexual abuse, child pornography, kidnapping and obstruction of justice charges and was recently hit with an updated indictment in Chicago stemming from a newly-identified victim.

Prosecutors offered little detail about the new alleged victim, but said the person met Kelly in the late 1990s at the age of 14 or 15. The indictment said Kelly “engaged in sexual contact and sexual acts” with Minor Six and four others when they were aged under 18.

He was arrested in Chicago last year on two sets of charges including sex trafficking, child abuse images and obstruction of justice. He has already pleaded not guilty to more than 20 sexual offences across several US states, including prostitution charges in Minnesota.
